GIRI PUTRI CAVE TEMPLE - PURA GOA GIRI PUTRI ( NUSA PENIDA - BALI )

Om 🙏. Giri Putri Cave Temple ( Pura Goa Giri Putri ) located at Suana Village, Nusa Penida Sub-district, Klungkung Regency, Bali. One of the cave in the island of Nusa Penida is named Giri Putri Cave ( Goa Giri Putri ). The word of Giri Putri derived from two words " Giri " and " Putri ". The word " Giri " itself means mountain, hill, while " Putri " means a woman or princess. In the concept of the Hindu teachings, princess or woman in question is the symbolic name for the power of God, has the nature of motherhood or femininity. So Giri Putri cave is a space or cavity of a certain size as dwelling place of God in the manifestations of the power of woman ( called Hyang Giri Putri ), no other is one of magic of the power of God in His manifestation as God Shiva.

One unique fact about this cave are small entry point. The path is only a small hole the size of human body. Even the adults as if will not be able to get inside. However, just seems so. When you try to go inside, then you will be able to get through it without major obstacles. Moreover, people will be amazed when you go in and saw the room in the cave which is so spacious and large, so that are able to load a lot of people.

This temple also has a close relationship with two other temples which also included the largest temple in the island of Nusa Penida, the Puncak Mundi temple and Dalem Ped temple. When big ceremony took place in the tenth of balinese calender each year, the great ceremony was also held in Puncak Mundi temple and Dalem Ped temple. Thus, when people visit to Nusa Penida for praying, three temples above will be their main goal. However, people usually tend to stay at Dalem Ped temple because the weather is warmer and more complete amenities.

Before entering into the cave, the first area you see is Tri Purusa temple that exist outside of the cave. After praying at Tri Purusa temple, next step is to enter the cave. The cave is divided into three main praying area: the front, middle, and rear. In the front area, there are four shrines to invoke the safety and prosperity of life. In the middle of the cave, there are five shrines, three down and two others are in upstairs. This is the place to invoke spritual sanctity and cleanliness and freedom from all negative things. In this place was used as a place of meditation. Balinese people believe that people can be cured in this holy place. The place is also decorated naturally with stalagmites. With the sound of water droplets, this place became a place of meditation is perfect. At the end of the cave there are four shrines for worshipping. In this place, people can see the amazing panorama when the sun goes into the cave. Here also there is a path out where people can see the natural beauty of Nusa Penida island. And it seems this temple into a temple that must be visit by everyone who prays or " Tirtayatra " to the Nusa Penida island. Om 🙏🙏🙏 Om.
