TIKUS TEMPLE - CANDI TIKUS ( EAST JAVA )

Tikus Temple ( Candi Tikus ) is located at Temon Village, Trowulan Sub-district, Mojokerto Regency, East Java. Tikus Temple ( Candi Tikus ) is a relic of Majapahit Kingdom that exist at Trowulan complex, Mojokerto. Why is called Tikus Temple because when this place is discovered, this place is the place of rats breeding which eat paddy of farmers. The temple was  probably built in the 13th or 14th century based on the analysis some of physical evidence of the temple. But it is still under debate when year exactly of the temple was built. According to most historians, the Tikus Temple is used as a bathing place of king family. But many also say that The Tikus Temple is worship place to God. The form itself is more like pond and in the center, there is the temple that resembles the shape of Mahameru.

The unique architecture of this temple because the ornament of the main building decorated fountain with lotus shape and "makara" shape, the temple also has two ponds and waterways containing " petirtaan " structure. Another uniqueness of the manufacture of this temple use two main materials are red brick and andesite. The building of this temple is also situated decreased down about 3 meters below the surface of surrounding land.

In addition to a beautiful temple, the place also has a very nice garden, suitable for you who want to relax with your girlfriend or boyfriend or family or just taking photographs. There is some documentation or photos of mine when visiting the Tikus Temple.
