Om 🙏. For who is interested in religous tourism, visiting the Agung Temple Blambangan ( Pura Agung Blambangan ) may be one of them. Agung Temple Blambangan ( Pura Agung Blambangan ) located at Tembok Rejo village, Muncar Sub-district, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. The trip to Agung Temple Blambangan from Ketapang port takes about 1 hour by car.

Upon arriving at the Agung Temple Blambangan, we can see the temple area is spacious enough to do praying together. In the middle there is a fairly large building ( Wantilan ) normally used for religious activities such as : Dances, art performance, and others. In the temple area there is a Padmasana about 10 meters in height, flanked by two statues that drain of holywater or  " tirta ". A place of prayer is very beautiful because there are a variety of leafy plants such as frangipani trees and frangifani flowers are fragrant scent. Prayers in this temple led by local Sulinggih, with chanting of " Gayatri Mantram " became solemn and silent prayers. At that time there were also other people who are doing " Tirtayatra " pray there. In this temple is always crowded with Hindus from various regions, when the " Kuningan " ceremony held by Hindus as the victory of dharma against adharma hosted in the temples.

Agung Temple Blambangan have a very close relationship with Blambangan Kingdom which is a Hindu Kingdom. Blambangan Kingdom is the kingdom centered in Blambangan region, in the south of Banyuwangi or kown as Alas Purwo. The last king whose throne was King Minak Jinggo. This kingdom has existed at the end of  the Majapahit era. Agung Temple Blambangan originally is the site of " Umpak Songo ", a relic of the Blambangan Royal era. Blambangan kingdom is the last Hindu kingdom in Java island, that founded in 1294 AD by Regent Arya Wiraraja from Madura in Lumajang because of his merit to King Raden Wijaya ( The majapahit King ) toppled King Jayakatwang and drove the Mongols Army out from East Java, as well as establishing Majapahit kingdom. This is in accordance with the " Serat " Blambangan King in 1774 AD, Also " Serat Pararaton " named Arya Wiraraja and Lumajang.

Agung Temple Blambangan construction has been underway since 1975 gradually following the Hindu revival in the area in 1968. During the construction has been found five wells in the temple area is used as holy water. The place where the Agung Temple Blambangan has constructed is considered most suitable place after selecting a place for three years to facilitate people who normally pray at Umpak Songo.

This temple is very important for Hindus in Indonesia, in addition as historic sites, the temple is also a sacred place.
